I enjoyed reading these posts, but I noticed there are no recent posts. The last one was from 2006. Could you perhaps resurrect this forum? I own a small shoe store and I sometimes feel all alone in my misery. It’s good to hear another’s experience in this industry. The Internet has brought on a whole new dimension to customer service. Have you ever waiting on someone for 50 minutes bringing out 20-30 pairs of shoes only to have them ask you to write the ones she picked out down on a piece of paper. You know what’s happening… she wants to shop the internet and get a better deal, with free shipping and not pay tax!

i like the way you write your blogs i find them histerical. I work in a shoe store and i have many of the same complaints about people.

I was wondering what strategies should I learn in order to best help the customer.

I was wondering if you could help give me some strategy tips in order to close a sale.

Hello,
Saying that a man will buy shoes we have in his size 75% of the time if he has asked for them is a relief. Holding onto that thought my tranfer ocver into my sales success..lol. I Have just been hired to a part time job selling shoes in the mall, into a pretty trendy store. However I’ve never sold shoes, only clothing. Women and men do purchase very differently it’s amazing.

it dsn’t happen to me and my mother…but to some it really does..not only to shoes..but also to clothes..

good post. good observation. can you say this to anybody? unfortunately, those in retail are hurt by those in retail who suck, and there are a lot of them. but the good ones do standout. what do you think about those in retail who know nothing and are trying to sell you electronics?
